What is Widecash (WCH)?

Widecash is an experimental digital currency that enables instant payments to anyone, anywhere in the world. Widecash uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority: managing transactions and issuing money are carried out collectively by the network. Widecash Core is the name of open source software which enables the use of this currency.

Where is my blockchain data directory?

Windows 7, 8.1, 10
Default Directory: %APPDATA%\widecash\
Full Configuration File Path: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\widecash\widecash.conf

Linux
Default Directory: $HOME/.widecash/
Full Configuration File Path: /home/username/.widecash/widecash.conf

 How do I backup my wallet?
– Close your wallet.
– Open the folder “%APPDATA%\widecash”.
– Copy the file wallet.dat to a safe location.
or
– Open wallet.
– Click File -> Click Bakup Wallet -> Chose location to save wallet file.

How can I restore my wallet?
– Close your wallet.
– Make a backup of the folder “%APPDATA%\widecash”.
– Copy the file wallet.dat from your backup to the folder “%APPDATA%\widecash”.

How do I fix the error “500 internal Server Error” in minerd?

 The error message “500 internal Server Error” in minerd is generated because your blockchain passed your last PoW block height.
 So now it is only applicable for PoS blocks.

How do you mine a block? (Scrypt PoW/PoS)

Open your wallet, and make sure you are connected to another wallet.
Close your wallet and create the file widecash.conf in the folder “%APPDATA%\widecash\”.
Paste the following text into widecash.conf and save the file.

Download the latest version of cpuminer from here and extract the zip file.
Create a .bat file named mine.bat and paste the following text into mine.bat.

minerd –url=http://127.0.0.1:rpcport–userpass=rpcuser:rpcpassword

Save the file inside the extracted cpuminer folder.
Open your wallet and execute mine.bat to start mining your first coins.

How do I start and stop staking?

– Encrypted Wallet.
You can unlock your wallet using the following instructions.
Go to Help.
Click Debug Window.
This is the console where you will execute all commands.
Type this command to start staking:
Walletpassphrase REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_PASSWORD 9999999 true
Replace the text “REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_PASSWORD” with your password.
The number 9999999 is the amount of seconds you want to leave your wallet unlocked for staking.

– Nonencrypted Wallet
The following only applies for a scrypt PoW/PoS blockchain.
You can disable staking by adding a parameter to your config file.
Use the following instructions to stop staking in your wallet.

Close your wallet and create the file widecash.conf in the folder “%APPDATA%\widecash\”.
Paste the following text into widecash.conf and save the file.

Stop staking
staking=0

Start staking
staking=1
